To be fair (and this is to say I realize that maybe I'm not being), I have been part of some pretty unusual communities, AND I've been a Burner for a good long time. For those for whom this kind of creativity, acceptance and freedom is new, well shit - Burning Man good.

I've just been fortunte to have been part of the small and close knit arts community in Calgary, the urban exploration community of Calgary and Sydney, hell even the Church growing up. I know what community is.

Okay, that's it, just being fair. Not so jaded afterall.

Hello,
I'm glad Jacob at ERE posted your link - this is a very inspiring blog, maybe because I'm on the same path and can relate. I've been in constant simplify mode for a long time and it's taken on new energy lately. I still live in a 650 sf condo but am inspired to reduce my belongings. I'm keeping a list and it's satisfying to see all the things I've let go. As the shelves empty I give away or sell what held them.
I wish you luck with selling the car. I donated mine 2 years ago and it was/is the sweetest relief to not have it anymore.
Thanks for sharing your life. I look forward to reading more.

Good luck! ;-)

In terms of alienation, I have tended to keep a low profile amongst the "normals". They spend way more money than I do. Conversely, I have way more money than they do. However, when it comes to other areas than dealing with money, we all have the usual stuff in common.

The only kind of regular friction I experience is when they want to blow $50 on one shot of entertainment. I might go for that once, but not twice. Otherwise, I don't think people I meet for the first time (or even the tenth time) can tell. If they ask me what I do, I give them one of my job/projects according to what I think they can relate to best. I don't tell them that I only "work" on that 3-4 hours a week ;-)

On the other hand, indeed, there are also many like-minded individuals out there. I am actually surprised I don't encounter more resistance on some of my more outrageous posts. I would also say that the connection is stronger since it is based on a similar philosophy of living and thinking rather than buying similar consumer goods.

Thank you for having me stop for a minute and consider the importance of that building (as well as any other) in my life.

I was born here and never did I quit the city for more than a couple of days. This city is me and I am this city.

There are so many iconic places in and around Montreal: Parc Jean-Drapeau, Mont-Royal, Place Ville-Marie, Olympic Stadium, Silo No.5, etc. We are lucky to live here.

Thanks.

If you want to read a reader's feedback :) , I rate this article for 4/5. Decent info, but I just have to go to that damn msn to find the missed parts. Thank you, anyway!

I just deleted a whole lot of ranty stuff. You've got Virtumonde on your PC; you think your Mac is only good for porn. Ye-a-aa-a-hh.

And people wonder why we have an attitude.

I got Virtumonde last week. It's about time for Ol' Paint on my desktop here to be replaced anyway--and even if my MacBook hadn't dragged me into the 21st century, Vista sure as hell would have made the decision for me.

Can't wait for my Mini.
